I'm motivated to lose weight, but I'm struggling to make myself skip tastey food like roast, just to eat nasty oatmeal or cereal. I don't crave sweets, I crave salty stuff. We're not supposed to feel guilty about what we eat, but i'm confused with how to make myself eat proper, if my stomach wants good food, am I supposed to deny it? How small are my portions supposed to be? I'm not taking SQ or anything right now.

Use sea salt if you crave salt on your food, better for you. That is your stomach fighting you, it wants all that stuff back and is sending messages to your brain to get it. Roast is ok if it is a lean roast with no fat. Make your stomach crave things like a nutri bar or fruit to satisfy that sweet tooth. Your body is so used to eating alot of unhealthy stuff that's all it knows, you are re training it as well as your brain to go for healthy foods. Takes time but your stomach eventually caves in. Just take control. You can do this. :)

Ya know, it is ok to have a small cheat now and then, we need a bit of a treat or we will start thinking that dieting sucks, so go ahead and have a treat now and then, just don't make it a habit. This way you won't wolf down the treat, you will just eat it slowly and enjoy it. :)

Learning how to make the things you crave using healthy ingredients could help too. If you use this as a stepping stone to living a healthier lifestyle versus just another diet the benefits will last your whole life. Portions for specific items are so much smaller than we have grown accustomed to. A deck of cards is usually a good visual for protein size. Maybe two deck of cards for your carbs and for veggies the same or more. A good idea is to start reading the labels of everything you eat and actually measuring out what a portion size is. A small kitchen food scale nearby where you prepare meals is super helpful.
