does anybody run?

I've started running last week. I only go m-w-f and only run about 1/2 mile (1/4 at a time). I'm anxious to work up to be able to do more at once but don't want to push it and get hurt.

Any runners out there? Any suggestion on how long I should wait to add an extra day of running or upping the distance?

I started running a few months ago and can run about 2 miles at a time. A lot of experts suggest running every other day and then doing other exercises (like classes or machines) on the other days to cross train. I started running by focusing on time, not distance. I added 1 minute each time I ran until I hit 10 minutes of running, then I started to add 2 minutes each time. Once you hit 20 minutes of continuous running, try adding 3-5 minutes each time. You may also want to sign up for a 5k to keep your motivation for running. Also, Runners World has a great email newsletter. Good luck - you can do it!
