Good for you on the 5k. My best suggestion is to only do any type of exercises that are strenuous is when you feel ready for them. Start slow and easy. Re train the muscle groups to work again. As you get stronger and the muscles get worked at a good pace then up the exercising and do a bit more. You do not want to risk injury or doing more than your body is ready for. Full body exercises plus 30 min sustained cardio is a good start 4 to 5 times a week. An easy jog to start, more running when your body can take it.
